A Second World War period Japanese NCO's katana with curved single-edged blade, blade length 65cm, the signed tang with double peg hole piercings and numbered '1316' to the spine, blackened steel tsuba, fabric tape bound wood grip with menuki fittings, fuchi and pommel cap with applied tablet with family crest/symbol, the fuchi with spring loaded scabbard release, with textured black lacquer scabbard with single ring suspension.
