Henry Redmore (British 1820-1887) – A British Ship of the Line and Other Sailing Vessels in a Stiff Breeze off a Coast, probably Dover, and Dutch and Danish Sailing Vessels off a Coast, a pair, (2) oil on canvas, both signed lower right, each 33.5cm x 51.5cm, within swept gilt composition frames.

William Shayer (British 1787-1879) - Returning from Market, oil on canvas, signed lower left, 71cm x 91cm, within a swept gilt composition frame. Provenance: with Stacy Marks. From the estate of the late Michael Rawlins of Wakefords, Easebourne, West Sussex.

Arthur Wilde Parsons (British 1854-1931) – ‘Taking wreckage in tow’, oil on canvas, signed and dated 1878 lower right, inscribed on label verso, 21cm x 25.5cm, within a gilt composition frame.

Henry Thomas Schafer (German 1815-?) - Old street, Morlaix, Britanny; St Piere, Caen, Normandy, a pair, oil on panel, both signed with monogram and dated 1888 lower right, inscribed with titles on labels verso, each 41.5cm x 30.5cm, within gilt composition frames (2). Provenance: from the estate of the late Michael Rawlins of Wakefords, Easebourne, West Sussex.

Jean-Francois Millet (French 1814-1875) - The Faggot Gatherers, crayon noir on laid paper, signed 'J.F. Millet' lower left, 45.5cm x 29.5cm, within a stained wood frame.

Note: this work, previously unseen and untraced for 74 years, is a study for Millet's 'The Faggot Gatherers' in the collection of the National Galleries of Scotland. In 1950 the oil version, at that time owned by Margaret Cargill Shaw, nee Mackay, dowager Lady Craigmyle (1890-1958) was included in the exhibition 'A Loan Exhibition of the School of 1830 in France' organised by Wildenstein & Co. The accompanying catalogue entry cites a 'study for the painting as a whole' as belonging to a London private collector. Augustus Philip Brandt, a merchant banker and collector of artworks by European artists, acquired this work at some point in the late 19th/early 20th century and it has remained within the family until the present time.

Provenance: Augustus Philip Brandt (1871-1952) by 1950, thence by descent; probably the same work as 'Femme parlant des fagots. Lisiere du Bas Breau', sale Vente X, 20th May 1887 (Hippolyte Mireur, 'Dictionnaire des ventes d'art faites en France et a l'etranger, Paris' vol.5, p.213).

Valentine Thomas Garland (British 1868-1914) – The Star Performer: Two Circus Dogs backstage near a Punch Doll, oil on canvas, signed lower right, 74cm x 50.5cm, within a swept gilt composition frame.

Carl Rickelt (German 1857-1919) – Musikstudium (Music Studies), oil on panel, signed and dated 1885 recto, Galerie Heinemann label verso, 29.5cm x 21cm, within a swept gilt composition frame. Provenance: Galerie Heinemann, Munich by 1905 stock no. 7652 and purchased by Augustus Brandt in 1907; thence by family descent.

Italian School (17th century) – A Kneeling Man in a Landscape, probably Saint Jerome, 17th century pen with ink and wash on laid paper, with collector’s stamp, 13cm x 11.5cm, within an ebonized wood frame. Note: the flowered capital 'C' collector's stamp (Lugt 474) was previously attributed to Queen Christina of Sweden and later Pierre Crozat, however in 2021 Julian Brooks was able to connect the drawings bearing this mark with the collection gathered by Charles Paul Jean-Baptiste de Bourgevin Vialart, Count of Saint-Morys, during his exile in England, later sold by his son Charles Étienne Bourgevin Vialart, Count of Carrière (1772-1817). It is believed that the stamp was applied for the 1797 sale of the collection of drawings belonging to Count de Carriere held at Henry Philips, New Bond Street, London.

English School (19th century) - Portrait of a gentleman, oil on canvas, 76cm x 63cm, unframed.

E.W. Martin (British 19th/20th century) - Mallard startled by a fox, oil on canvas, signed lower left, further signed and inscribed verso, 56cm x 77cm., within a foliate moulded gilt composition frame.

F.W. Scholtz (Continental 19th century) - A Musical disagreement: A lady playing the piano while a gentleman holds a violin, oil on canvas laid on board, signed and dated 1885 lower left, 72cm x 54cm, within a gilt composition frame.

Circle of Robert Anning Bell - Girl reading a book, oil on canvas, bears an indistinct signature upper right, 23cm x 17.5cm, within a plain gilt gesso frame.

Robert Cleminson (British fl.1864-1903) – Setters in a landscape, oil on canvas, signed lower right, 25cm x 45.5cm, framed

Edgar Longstaffe (British 1849-1912) - Autumnal river scene, oil on canvas, signed with initials and dated 1889 lower right 46cm x 81cm, within a gilt composition frame.

William Mellor (British 1851-1931) – On the Wharfe, Bolton Woods, Yorkshire, oil on canvas, signed lower left, inscribed verso, 41cm x 61cm, within a gold painted frame.

Emilio Poy Dalmau (Spanish 1876-1932) - A Courtyard scene with women and donkey, oil on canvasboard, signed lower left, bears typed label verso, 39cm x 28cm, within a gilt composition frame.

Henry George Hine (British 1811-1895) - Roedean Valley, Sussex, with the Jill Windmill, watercolour, signed and dated 1875 lower right, inscribed with title lower left, 49cm x 87.5cm, within a composition gilt swept frame and slip.
