Leonard Campbell Taylor (British 1874-1969) - The Chess Game: interior with figures at a table, watercolour, 33cm x 36.5cm, within a pierced gilt frame. Note: this watercolour reputedly came out of a large house in Leeds after the death of the last occupant. There were two pictures by Taylor that had been commissioned of and for the house. These works and other items from the house were then auctioned, including furnishings that appear in the paintings.

Lucien Potronat (French 1889-1974) - Yachts in a sunny bay, oil on canvas, signed lower right, inscribed on gallery label verso, 60cm x 73cm, within a wood frame, with original purchase invoice. Provenance: Stacy-Marks.

Sidney Nolan (Australian 1917-1992) - 'Footballers', oil on board, title to label verso, 23.5cm x 33.5cm, within an oak frame. Note: this and the following Lot 88 are rare footballing subjects by Nolan, comparable only to ‘Footballer’ in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria since 2002. Lady Nolan dated these lots in 2011 to the late 1930s or early 1940s. Provenance: acquired by the vendor from a couple locally, whose aunt reputedly had an affair with Nolan. Offered at Christie's 11 October 2011, where it remained unsold.

Sidney Nolan (Australian 1917-1992) - 'Footballers', oil on board, title to label verso, 24cm x 33.5cm, within an oak frame. Note: this and the previous Lot 87 are rare footballing subjects by Nolan, comparable only to ‘Footballer’, in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria since 2002. Lady Nolan dated these lots in 2011 to the late 1930’s or early 1940’s. Provenance: acquired by the vendor from a couple locally whose aunt reputedly had an affair with Nolan. Offered at Christies 11 October 2011, where it remained unsold.
