Photographs, Autographs and Ephemera

ROYALTY. A mounted black and white presentation photograph of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip,  22cm x 17cm, signed below the image and dated 1985, within original black morocco leather easel frame by Paul Longmire Ltd.

AUTOGRAPH, ROYALTY. Two royal Christmas cards from 1981 and 1988, both signed by HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother, with opposing mounted colour photograph, the front with gilt crown, 18.5cm x 23cm closed and 22cm x 19cm closed. Provenance: offered with RR Auction Certificates.

AUTOGRAPH. A typed letter signed by John F. Kennedy dated November 14, 1952 (prior to becoming the 35th president of the United States of America) on Congress of the United States, House of Representatives headed paper, 1p., 26.5cm x 20cm, the letter thanking the recipient William McConnor for his help in the campaign ‘I am certain that we would never have been so successful against the Eisenhower landslide if it had not been for the effectiveness of your organisation’, with additional handwritten postscript ‘Noone helped more than you and John and Paul, Many many thanks, I hope to see you soon’.

EPHEMERA. A British printed lottery ticket dated 1795, entitling the bearer to one eighth part of such beneficial chance, together with a chapbook titled ‘The Infant’s Grammar or a Pic-nic Party of the Parts of Speech’ published London in 1824.

PHOTOGRAPHS. A collection of 32 photographic stereoscopic viewing cards including views of London and Paris and four salt-paper prints, each 8.5cm x 17.5cm.

CHINA. A group of four cartes-de-visite photographs, comprising a Chinese dwarf, Cheng the Chinese giant, a Chinese lady and a view of a temple with people outside, all circa 1865-1870.

PHOTOGRAPHS. A collection of 24 hand-coloured albumen-print photographs from the ‘Musée Ethnographique Scandinave’ series, circa 1870, all depicting Scandinavian people, each mounted on a two-tone card with printed title, each overall 20.5cm x 15cm.

FOOTBALL. A group of eleven ticket stubs for matches at the Empire Stadium, Wembley, during the 1966 World Cup, dated July 11, July 13, July 15, July 16, July 19 (2), July 23, July 26, July 28 and the final tie on Saturday July 30, together with an associated application receipt.

PHOTOGRAPH. A gelatin silver-print photograph from a V.P.K. negative by Captain W. St Aubyn Hubbard, depicting a silver smith in the Bazaar at Amara on the Tigris, Mesopotamia (South Iraq) in 1916-1917, 29cm x 24cm, within an inscribed window mount.

PROGRAMME. An Alexandra Palace, Muswell Hill Programme dated October 25th 1875 for the Fete in Commemoration of the Balaklava Charge, or the Charge of the Light Brigade, printed by R.K. Burt & Co, 22cm x 13.5cm, bound in red morocco with gilt lettering.

PHOTOGRAPHS. A collection of eight photographs relating to the Bass brewery and a vintage postcard of brewing interest.

AUTOGRAPHS. A group of six autographs by Josephine Baker, comprising one postcard inscribed ‘En Souvenir de Josephine Baker 1936’, three signed programmes, a photograph signed to its backing, and one album leaf window-mounted below a reprinted photograph, together with a photograph and four programmes, all relating to Josephine Baker.

EPHEMERA. A group of 19th century ephemera, including two Victorian passports awarded to Charles Robert Eaton, three commonplace books, a birthday book with hallmarked silver upper cover and a few photographs.

PHOTOGRAPHS. A collection of approximately 62 cartes-de-visite and 45 cabinet-size photographs and some other photographs in two albums and loose, including one of Queen Victoria and some of military interest.

PHOTOGRAPHS. A collection of photographs by Ray Warner of Dover, the majority relating to Ramsgate and its environs, mid-20th century, 30.5cm x 25cm and smaller.

TOBACCO. A collection of ephemera relating to cigarettes and tobacco in four albums, all empty cigarette packets, including seasonal examples, or related booklets.

PHOTOGRAPHS. A group of six glass plate negatives, including two featuring HMS Meteorite, a experimental HT-propelled German U-boat, and four of a battleship, possibly HMS Wryneck, each 20.5cm x 25.5cm, together with two photograph albums.

BOOKLETS. A collection of small-format books, booklets and giveaways in two albums and loose, 20th century, the majority aimed at children.

EPHEMERA. A collection of 20th century letters, greetings cards and ephemera, collected by Faith Eaton, including letters, invitations, and greetings cards from Alison Uttley, Kaye Webb (Mrs Ronald Searle), Gwen White, Vivien Greene, Lady Antonia Fraser, Michael Bond, and other creatives, also including some advertising ephemera, a London Underground map and other maps, postcard-size watercolours relating to the Committee of American Students of Beaux Arts, Paris, and a dinner programme for Gloucestershire County Cricket Club Grand Bristol Festival Dinner, where Princess Diana gave her maiden public speech.
