Photographs, Autographs and Ephemera

PHOTOGRAPHS. A half leather-bound album containing 48 hinge-mounted black and white photographs titled in manuscript 'Memories of Travel, Henry Perrin', early 20th century, leaves 15.5cm x 20.5cm, all topographical views from around the world, most captioned, including views of Holland, Corfu, Israel, Morocco and Sierra Leone (leaves curling slightly).

OXFORD. Two volumes of hand-written records of crimes committed in the Oxfordshire villages of Thame, Stonesfield, Great Haseley and Woodstock, dated 1839-40, leaves 20cm x 16cm, and a further hand-written volume of student notes. Note: possibly written by a court magistrate's clerk, the two legal volumes list the criminal's name, the crime, the sentence or punishment and, occasionally, a transcription of the prosecution's testimony ('Henry Tibbets- for stealing a snuff-box- 14 days and horse-whipped').

TRAVEL. A folding plan of the Bergen-Newcastle mail service vessel 'M.V. Vega', 81cm x 59.5cm, together with some luggage stickers, tickets and postcards.

PHOTOGRAPHS. An album containing approximately 80 small format photographs of America and Canada, early/mid-20th century, photographs 7cm x 11.5cm, including views of aircraft and military personnel.

ALBUMS. An album containing inscriptions and amateur drawings, circa 1900-1920, leaves 10.5cm x 16cm, including a drawing of imps and fairies by Norah G. Butcher, a portrait by Constance Wright, and a pen and ink in the style of Charles Dana Gibson by Charles Boyton, together with another family album.

SCOTLAND. A collection of 8 original ink and wash drawings by John Timms Baldwin, mainly of the Argyll countryside, including views of Oban, Castle Stalker and Dunollie Castle, dated between 1824-38 to verso in pencil, signed with initials, most 18cm x 26cm.

MANUSCRIPT. A hand-written book of minutes from the Westminster Bridge Office, London, 1762-63, 18cm x 11cm, containing 69pp. in three legible hands detailing a list of the 'Commissioners' and of 'nobleman balloted', then minutes relating to meetings on municipal works, mainly the paving of roads. Note: contains detailed notes on the 'experiment' and the progress of paving Parliament Street and York Street with 'Edinburgh paving stones', followed by work on Bridge Street and Albermarle Street while consideration is given to lighting lamps in York Street, mention is also made of sewers and '11 projecting water-sprouts' planned for Shugg Lane. Provenance: Mr. Townshend (name inscribed verso of upper cover).

PHOTOGRAPHS. A panoramic albumen-print photograph by B. Ellot, titled and dated 'Johannesburg 1889', in twelve sections and backed onto linen, overall 24.5cm x 340cm (rolled).

CIRCUS. A small group of ephemera relating to the circus and stage shows, including a hand-coloured print titled 'The Siamese Twins, Ching and Eng', a playbill for the Strand Theatre featuring 'Harlequin and Gulliver or the Clown in Liliput', 2 sheet music covers, and an aquatint titled 'The Aztec Lilliputions from Central America'.

AUTOGRAPHS. A colour photograph signed by Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment, 19.5cm x 24.5cm, showing the two actors in their roles in the movie Sixth Sense, framed with three frames of the movie reel.

AUTOGRAPH. A signed digital photograph of Tom Cruise, 23.5cm x 19cm, framed with three frames of the movie reel from Mission Impossible 2.

AUTOGRAPH. A promotional photograph for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 signed by Jennifer Lawrence, 30cm x 19.5cm, framed with a DVD sleeve and disc and a further photograph.

AUTOGRAPH. A digital photographic reproduction poster for the re-release of the Italian Job in 1999, signed by Michael Caine, 19cm x 25cm, framed.

LEGAL DOCUMENT. A Commonwealth indenture on vellum dated 1651, signed by Thomas Coke, Richard Sydenham, R. Harison and two others, 54cm x 72cm, hung with five wax seals, framed and glazed with wax seals outside the frame.

ARREST WARRANT. An arrest warrant dated 1834 to apprehend George Mallalieu of Sunnyside, Lancashire, the document 23cm x 18.5cm, Mallalieu, an apprentice at Calico printers was 'guilty of divers misdemeanours and miscarriages in his said apprenticeship and particularly that he hath abraited himself from his employment', signed by William Grey, framed and glazed.

PLAYBILLS. Three theatre playbills or programmes for performances in Brighton, including a performance at the Theatre Royal, Brighton, 27cm x 42.5cm and another at the Brighton West Pier, 24.5cm x 37cm, all framed and glazed.

PLAYBILLS. A playbill for the Victoria Theatre, London, promoting performances on the week commencing Saturday January 25th 1868, 37.5cm x 50cm, including performances of The Wild Tribes of London, and 'a grand and magnificent Christmas Historical Pantomime, entitled Charles II and Pretty Nell Gwynne', together with five later theatre playbills, all framed.

LORD NELSON. An Edwardian tissue-paper souvenir handkerchief commemorating the death of Lord Nelson in 1805, 36.5cm x 37cm.

KEW BRIDGE. A souvenir tissue-paper napkin, circa 1903, commemorating the 'State opening of Kew Bridge by the King and Queen' (torn with loss) and 2 further souvenir napkins relating to the opening of Parliament, each 36cm x 36cm.
