Prints, Maps and Posters

A folio of assorted 20th century French prints, including equestrian subjects by Charles Ancelin (1863-1940), a group of costume subjects by Émile Gallois (1882-1965); two costume designs by Endre; four costume designs by Lucien Baubaut and others, various sizes, all unframed (folio).

After John Dean Paul - Horse and rider, aquatint, 56cm x 68cm, within a gilt composition frame.

Eric Gill (British 1882-1940) - ‘There - The Visitation’, a block print illustration to St Luke 1:5 on page 131 of the Four Gospels, 16cm x 20cm, within a wood frame, together with a similar example, unframed (2). Provenance: from the personal collection of the ceramic artist, the late Eric James Mellon (1925-2014).

Eric Ravilious (British 1903-1942) - ‘Garden Memories’, wood engraving, signed by Ann Ullman, the artist’s granddaughter, with initials to the margin, within original card wrapper, p.7cm x 8.5cm, together with a second identical image and wrapper, unsigned, unframed (2). Provenance: from the personal collection of the ceramic artist, the late Eric James Mellon (1925-2014).

Anne Rees-Mogg (British 1924-1984) - Daphnis and Chloe, etching, signed and dated 1948, p.6.5cm x 7.5cm, within a wood frame, together with a book of the same title, published by the Central School of Arts, and two further etchings of nude subjects by the same hand, unframed (4). Provenance: from the personal collection of the ceramic artist, the late Eric James Mellon (1925-2014).

Howard Phipps (British b.1954) - ‘Thomas Hardy’s Study, Max Gate, Dorchester’; ‘The Churchyard Wall’; ‘Harvest Thanksgiving’; ‘Interior, The Dining Room, Whittington Court’, three wood engravings, all signed artist proofs and one colour wood engraving, numbered 32/100, the largest p.10cm x 12.5cm, all unframed (4).
