British and Continental Ceramics

A pair of French faience vases and covers, late 19th century, possibly Moustiers, polychrome painted with opposing figural panels within foliate framing flanked by floral bouquets, sprigs and insects, the spreading circular feet raised on square faux marble bases, blue painted 'SP' mark to bases, height 31cm (one knop glued).

A faience jar and cover in the form of an owl, late 19th/early 20th century, moulded and painted with brown and white plumage, painted eyes and open beak, unmarked, height 23cm (faults and repairs), together with another pottery owl, unmarked, height 25cm.

Eight Dutch delft blue and white tiles, 18th/19th century, mostly painted with harbourside or landscape views, one with cows and a milkmaid, each within a circular frame cornered by stylized foliage, six framed together, two framed individually, the frames ebonized, each tile approx 12cm square.

A Derby Crown Porcelain Company two-handled vase, dated 1885, the pink glazed ovoid body with burgundy edged framed panel decoration overlaid in gilt with foliate scrollwork, the neck applied with scroll handles, red printed and painted marks to base, height 17cm, together with two Royal Crown Derby animal paperweights in the form of a tortoise and a kitten, both with button to base, a Royal Doulton figure A Gentleman From Williamsburg, HN2227, and a Coalport Ladies of Fashion figure (minor faults).

A Meissen porcelain trellis arbour, late 18th/early 19th century, of rounded arch shape with rocaille scroll moulding and applied flowers to the edge, the pierced intersections centred with blue flowerheads, surmounted with a floral arrangement and raised on a stepped base, outlined with gilt detail overall, underglaze blue crossed swords mark to base with asterisk and 'II', height 28cm (faults).

A rare Queen Victoria accession commemorative meat platter, circa 1837, probably Wedgwood, printed in green with a central head and shoulders portrait of the young queen within a border of hops between foliate scrolls against a basketweave ground, green printed mark to reverse 'HER MOST GRACIOUS MAJESTY QUEEN VICTORIA', length 56.5cm (restored). Note: the hop and scroll border on this platter matches the rim border on the Hibernia series produced by Wedgwood.

A small group of Royal Worcester blush ivory, comprising a pair of two-handled vases, shape No. 1716, dated 1901, height 20.5cm, a melon rose jar and cover, shape No. 1313, dated 1892, height 18cm, and a graduated pair of flatback jugs, tallest 13.5cm, together with a Royal Worcester ivory glazed figure of an Asian man, dated 1887, carrying a hoe on his back, puce printed mark to base, height 15.5cm (some faults and repairs).

A small group of Staffordshire pottery figures, 19th century, including a Dandies couple, height 17cm, a standing sultan figure, height 20cm, a highland couple on a settee with a parrot and a couple beneath an arbour (faults and restoration). Provenance: from the personal collection of the ceramic artist, the late Eric James Mellon (1925-2014).

A small group of British and Continental pottery and porcelain, late 19th and 20th century, including a pair of Doulton Lambeth posy vases sprigged with thistles, height 6cm, five fairings, an Ernst Bohne Söhne match holder vesta modelled as a boy with a broom, height 13.5cm, and two Staffordshire spill holders, tallest 14cm (faults and repairs).

A Royal Worcester Evesham pattern part service, including ten dinner plates, twelve side plates, nine dessert bowls, seven coffee cups and saucers, six teacups and saucers, souffle dishes, ramekins, two tureens and covers, three serving dishes and a sauceboat.

Two Derby Crown Porcelain Company Daisy pattern blue printed trays, circa 1880, with scalloped rims, blue printed and impressed marks to bases, diameter 35cm, a set of six 19th century Derby porcelain dinner plates, pattern No. 31, the cobalt blue rims gilt with anthemion and foliate scrollwork, diameter 25cm, a pair of Flight, Barr & Barr Worcester dinner plates painted to the centre in black with a lion crest, the pink glazed rims with three groups of flowers of the union, another Flight, Barr & Barr Worcester plate with orange rim and central crest with motto, other assorted plates and a pair of Vienna style circular chargers printed with Classical figures and cherubs, diameter 29.5cm (faults and restoration).

A small group of Jasperwares, late 19th and early 20th century, comprising a Wedgwood dark blue dip dressing table tray of canted corner rectangular shape, typically sprigged with Classical figures within a berried laurel edge, length 26.5cm, a cheese dome and cover, a Wedgwood pale blue Jasper dip tobacco jar with tamper and cover and a Wedgwood biscuit barrel with plated mounts and cover, together with a cranberry flashed engraved and cut decanter and stopper decorated with fruiting vine, height 19cm, with six matching shot glasses, another decanter and stopper and two other pieces (faults and repairs).

A pair of Continental porcelain figures, early 20th century, modelled as a falconer holding a bird of prey and his female companion holding a parrot, a greyhound by her side, raised on canted corner gilt edged bases with moulded detail, black printed crowned 'N' mark to bases with impressed numerals, height 27cm, together with a pair of Derby style figures, pseudo red painted marks to bases with impressed numerals, height 16cm, a similar figure of a muse, a Bow style figure of a musician, height 15.5cm, and another figure of a boy riding a hobby horse, blue painted Höchst type wheel mark to base, height 16cm (faults, losses and restoration).

A Derby porcelain figure group modelled as a dancing couple, late 18th century, raised on a naturalistic base, indistinct incised numerals to base '145'(?), height 17cm, together with a small group of other English pottery and porcelain, 18th and 19th century, including a recumbent Derby deer, a seated cherub before bocage, a pearlware figure of a putto, height 21cm, and three pieces of Staffordshire (faults, losses and restoration).

A group of Continental porcelain figures, late 19th and 20th century, including a pair of figures modelled as a man and woman holding baskets of flowers, she with a dead rabbit, he a dead bird, standing on scroll moulded gilt enriched bases, height 22cm, a pair of figures depicting musicians on circular bases, height 17cm, a Sitzendorf group of two musicians, height 14cm, a Meissen style monkey musician, height 13cm, a blue and gilt decorated group of a couple playing chess and a Berlin type figure of a woman holding a fruit, height 21.5cm, together with a Worcester Parian figure of a girl standing beside a basket, height 15.5cm, two cosy pin head dolls and two pairs of associated cosy doll legs (faults, losses and repairs throughout).

A pair of green ground vases, 19th century, painted with floral arrangements within gilt foliate frames opposing figural painted panels depicting children, the necks with elaborate gilt enriched foliate scroll handles, unmarked, height 32cm (extensive repairs and damage), together with a Meissen cobalt ground saucer, 19th century, painted to the centre with a floral arrangement, the rim edge with a gilt design, diameter 13cm, a Meissen eau de nil ground jug, height 11cm, a pair of Coalport cobalt blue and gilt posy vases, a similar Mintons bottle vase, height 14cm, a Dragon In Compartments oval dish, length 31.5cm, a porcelain knife haft and six other pieces (faults and repairs throughout).

A mixed group of pottery, porcelain and glass, English and Continental, 19th and 20th century, including a New Hall teapot and cover, pattern No. 202, with two matching teacups and saucers, a Royal Doulton vase by Florrie Jones, monogrammed, with an Art Deco style geometric band, height 25cm, two Staffordshire equestrian figures, tallest 38cm, a pair of Tradpots Poole footed bowls, diameter 12.5cm, an Art Deco style Hoffmann glass scent bottle and stopper relief moulded with cherubs and flowers, height 16cm, and a Royal Doulton jug decorated with flowers against a mottled blue ground, pattern No. D6227, height 21.5cm (minor faults).

A Royal Albert Old English Rose pattern matched part service, comprising a small coffee pot and cover, thirteen teacups and saucers, five coffee cups and saucers, twelve square shaped tea plates, three larger plates, two jugs and a sugar bowl (faults).

A mixed group of Quimper pottery, 20th century, including a floral painted jug, height 21cm, a matching plate, diameter 31cm, six similar tea plates, diameter 18.5cm, teacups and saucers, an octagonal sugar bowl and cover, an hexagonal teacup and saucer painted with a pipe player and a circular tub and cover painted with a bagpiper within dotted borders, various painted marks to bases, together with a green glazed teapot and cover (minor faults).
