A mid-18th century cased bracket clock, the eight day twin chain fusee movement with verge escapement, pull quarter repeat on a nest of six bells and striking hours on a larger bell, the backplate with foliate scroll engraved decoration, the 8-inch brass breakarch dial with silvered strike/silent indicator above a silvered chapter ring with black Roman hour numerals and outer Arabic minutes, framing a matt brass centre with mock pendulum aperture and date aperture, cornered with gilt mask and scroll spandrels, beneath a silvered boss to arch inscribed 'William Gibbs London', the case with bell top and brass carry handle above glazed sides and front and back doors, on a moulded rectangular plinth base, height 54.5cm, with case, key and winder. Note: William Gibbs is a recorded London clockmaker working between 1730 and 1766.

An impressive late Victorian ebonized and brass mounted bracket clock with eight day triple fusee movement chiming quarters on a nest of eight bells and striking hours on a gong, the 9-inch brass arched dial with silvered pendulum regulation and chime selection subsidiary dials to the arch, above a silvered chapter ring with black Roman hour numerals and outer Arabic minutes, inscribed 'Pickford & Co 177 & 178 Upper St, Islington London', framing a matt centre, all cornered with cast and pierced gilt foliate spandrels, the arched case surmounted with brass pineapple and urn finials, above a glazed door and side panels, flanked by a pair of caryatid and foliate cast corner columns, the sides with foliate drop handles, on a plinth base and cast scroll feet, height 72cm, with pendulum, winder and case key, together with original pierced brass side fret panels.
